More like the subject has been transformed into the artist's own image, and the surface takes its interpretation from the artist. It is most effective when dealing with living objects or objects that can be perishable like fruits and people. Alexa Meade's style of painting, which is very ephemeral in nature, is apparent. The only thing of her art to survive is the photo. Painting and photography are closely connected to form an unflattering two-dimensional space that is trompe l'oeil. In certain places, the third dimensions can be observed, such as near the eye or the hair. Meade sometimes integrates her paintings into the 3-dimensional world surrounding her. They interact within the world she has created for herself. The boundaries between performance, photography, and installation is thus broken.
