Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. Her work has been featured on more than 20 studio albums. DiFranco classifies her music as folk-rock and alternative, but it also includes influences like hip-hop, punk and jazz. Ani Difranco is considered to be a symbol of music that is feminist. In 1990 she was one of the first to establish her own label independently. DiFranco's parents, Elizabeth (Ross), a ex-student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each other while they were each attending.
